I bought an old Kodak CCD camera from a second-hand shop, but it didn’t come with a data cable. I searched many electronics stores, but couldn’t find one. Then I went to Kodak Express, and the owner was very patient. He asked about my needs and tried to help me find the right product. Even though he didn’t have it right away, he later found a similar cable and contacted me to let me know. It was really kind of him!

I also tried the Kodak Powerflash single-use camera for the first time. It’s great, especially in Edinburgh’s mild sunlight. After taking pictures, you can develop them in the store. If you’re not in a hurry, you can get digital photos in about a week and pick up the film at the store. Very convenient!

I printed a few photos as well, and the quality was really good.

Overall, I had a great experience here. Highly recommend?

Brought a 35mm roll (400 iso) to be processed and scanned to digital. I paid extra to get high-resolution scans, but to be honest it’s not worth it, I could still see the pixels when viewing the picture on my phone without zooming, so image what I’d be like on a laptop screen… Not to mention the non-friendliness of staff, I literally felt like I was bothering.

For comparison I got the same roll type, used with the same camera (Canon AE-1) processed in the Kodak shop in Galway City, Ireland, and the staff was incredibly friendly and re-scanned my entire roll to high-res, at no extra cost, and the quality is spotless, you can see the grain perfectly when zooming at maximum on any device.

Handy but Beware.

A handy service that is sorely needed.
It is evident that the student population in the area are keeping this sadly dwindling service afloat.

Perhaps due to the economics or the challenges of photoprint services in the digital age, this Kodak shop looks more and more drab year on year. However they provide a speedy and efficient service when there is minimal need for intervention.

I have not found them as helpful when print requests require more discussion or consideration.

Why I will consider carefully whether to return:

December 19th 2024: Whilst attempting to use their print kiosk service, I experienced issues in connecting to their printer’s WiFi in order to send the images for printing.
The kiosk self serve generates the customer a Wi-Fi connection which you are able to connect your phone to.
After several unsuccessful attempts to connect I chose to accept defeat and go to the desk.

When approaching the desk the staff member provided me an alternative. Email the photos to their email address for printing this way. However there would be an additional charge for using this email.l option.

Whilst the charge was nominal, I found myself questioning this as a policy.

I chose to go else where.

Whilst the issue of connection of my phone to their printers WiFi could be one of several issues ranging anywhere from my device, or their WiFi - I cannot help but feel this policy to charge additional fees for the only available solution is sharp practice. I perceived it as my being railroaded into additional costs.

A petrol station would not charge you an additional fee of one of their pumps was not working.

Whilst this was so close Christmas time I am sure that several customers will have simply paid the extra out of convenience or a sense of urgency. Please note the fee is nominal - but the principal is my main issue.

It is unfortunate- these sorts of print kiosks are becoming harder to find, and are really useful for gift ideas and affordable services - yet the smaller ones like this have somewhat tainted my trust (and readiness) to use them.

I always come here to get my Colour and B&W film processed.
You can get your film digitally scanned and sent to your email in addition to printing. Amazing quality every time. Top customer service. Highly recommend.

Went here to buy some colour and black and white 35mm film. Lots of variety and reasonably priced.

Had my film developed with no issues.

If you want to develop + scan 35mm, either pay extra for ''hi-res'' or be disappointed. The scans, and thus the prints as well are done automatically and without per-frame adjustment. For the price you can get better quality elsewhere. You also have to wait a week to get it developed, other places take 2-3 days. I can only recommend if you dont have other option.

To note, I’ve used this camera before with no issues previously when operating…

I was initially excited to take my film to be developed at this photo lab, it was an old antique camera with photos spread across several months this past year and I really looked forward to seeing the results after such a long time.

I handed over my film and was told to wait a week for collection. After a week goes by (3rd January), I had been told over the phone the film came out blank and I would be refunded.

I head to the store less than a week later and I am told what had happened, my black and white film had been developed as if were normal coloured film. I was refunded with no issue, however it was just that.

From no fault of my own I lost my photos and will never get to see them after waiting months and I have also lost an entire film roll.

I would’ve expected at the very least to be compensated with a new roll but instead I am asked if I wanted to place my newly refunded money towards a new roll! My jaw just about hit the floor…

Now I understand that mistakes do happen, but how you handle these mistakes is what defines good service and I don’t think I received that. The reason I have placed 2-star instead of 1-star is because they were honest about their mistake; but ultimately I am down a film roll and lost several months of photos.
