We highly recommend Caryn! She photographed both our engagement shoot and wedding. Caryn brought a unique perspective to each of those special moments, but she brought the same personal warmth which made her a true delight to work with.

To start with Caryn’s approach: her warmth is a vital part of her photography toolbox, not just a “nice to have”. Her friendliness behind the camera put us at ease and allowed us to put our best smiles and postures on film. When you’re shooting with Caryn, she feels more like a coach or a tour guide. She’s able to take that role because she’s so technically polished in her craft that she doesn’t need to burn time & energy overthinking the basics. Her base skillset affords her the opportunity to interact naturally with her subjects in their big moments. Basically, she finds ways to make you feel like a cool celebrity she’s lucky to work with, not like a zoo animal enduring the cold stare of a strange lens.

A specific note about Caryn’s work on our engagement shoot: we were under some time pressure for it, but Caryn did a great job of improvising to make the most of the fading November light. We hustled through multiple scenes/locations, but it felt like a fun adventure and we loved how the photos turned out.

A specific note about Caryn’s work on our wedding: besides the standard shots (which worked well!), Caryn did a great job catching tons of candid moments and smiles, such as those found on the dance floor. Those shots are especially precious to us as they truly encapsulate the dynamic energy of our big day.

Outside of the work Caryn did for us, we also saw Caryn photograph one of our sibling’s weddings. Caryn was a warrior at that wedding—she dislocated her knee while moving a couch setting up a shot but soldiered on and shot the remainder of the night with a knee brace and smile (don’t quite know how she managed to stay cheery through that).

A final note: Caryn has shown her dedication to our project even after she completed the final delivery. She’s remained easy to contact, and more than a month after she delivered our wedding photography set she was happy to add additional black-and-white edits of some of our favorite color photos. As you can imagine from the rest of this review: we were already big fans, but Caryn’s extra commitment to client happiness after final delivery earned additional respect from us.
